A few months back my friend downloaded an application from a third-party source. And as soon as he installed it, adware got installed on his device and then it started showing ads all over all the time. He checked his device many times but found nothing, and finally, he called me and then after checking, I solved his problem. We will talk about how we solved his problem later in this article.
To secure the android devices we first need to understand how these hackers take access to our devices. So let’s talk about it.
How hackers get access to your Android Devices?
Hackers use very simple techniques to get access to your device. They send you an email, SMS or even push notification with a malicious URL (link or web address). And as soon as you click on that link? with the help of a script, adware or spyware will get installed on your device through which hackers take on your android device.
Sometimes they also use third-party applications or modified apk of the famous applications or games to do so.
Android device manufacturing brands don’t provide any special functionality for security as the iPhone does.
Now we know how hackers get access to your Android Devices?, So let’s understand why the hell these guys hack others’ devices.
What benefits do they get by hacking android devices?
Now, this is interesting, even I laughed when I heard this “They do it just for fun”. Yes, you heard it right “Just for fun”. It seems as though these hackers have nothing else for the time pass. But not every time, sometimes it becomes personal, sometimes even economical.
The common reason these hackers try to get access to your device is to earn money through ads. They just want to install adware on as many mobile devices as possible, so that they can earn money through ads. In this situation, they don’t do anything too personal information, but these ads can be annoying as those can appear at any time. And the worst thing is they don’t appear in the installed apps list in the application manager, and because of this, it becomes difficult to track them down and uninstall them.
As I said earlier, sometimes they do this in personal interest, like to test new scripts or new adware or spyware. So sometimes they choose a random target for this.
In other cases, they do this to steal money from you. They get access to your mobile device and then they track your all activities and steal all important information such as your contacts, bank account information, the password you have typed in and even they can steal your OTPs. Then they use this information to steal your money.
So is there any way to prevent hacking and secure our android phones from these hackers?
Yes, we can secure our android devices against these attacks.
How to secure android phone from hackers?
There are many ways, using which we can prevent hacking of our android device. Those are as follows:
- Always download apps and games from the play store only. Some of us never bother to download apps and games outside the play store and open the gate for the hackers.
- Never clicks on the links sent by the unknown sources. Always block such sources.
- Don’t just blindly give permissions to all resources to all apps and games you install. It only gives permission to require resources.
- Keep your Android device password protected. Never let any unknown person use your device.
- Use apps and games from top vendors only.
By just doing these few things you can minimize the risk of getting your android device hacked.
Now let’s talk about my friend’s case. So I checked his device twice and I found nothing in the installed app list of the application manager. But when I scroll down I see an empty spot in between two apps. So I clicked on it but it won’t let me uninstall it. Then I get administrator privileges and then I uninstalled that adware. To make sure I take the backup of his personal information and then factory reset his android device.
